The Dental Radiography course will prepare the student with the knowledge and skills required to expose, process and mount dental radiographic images and safely perform dental radiography procedures. In addition, the graduate will understand the legal implications of exposing radiographs in Ontario and will be able to demonstrate these clinical skills while adhering to the ODAA Code of Ethics. The graduate will be taught how to recognize and solve faulty radiographs, recognize anatomical landmarks of the head and neck that need to be recognized to take x-rays, understand the standard of radiographic techniques, radiation hygiene measures, client management and provincial and federal regulations.

Dental Radiography is offered as a hybrid 12 week (20 hours per week) program which means all theory can be taken from the comfort of your home and all radiology lab components will be completed on site. It is designed to allow the individual to continue to work and learn at the same time. All concepts taught in the classroom are demonstrated and practiced in the clinical setting on mannequins, student partners, and clients.

Our state-of-the-art facilities give students plenty of practice in real situations with modern equipment. The program includes field training in a dental office as well as extensive practical experience with knowledgeable instructors.

The Dental Radiography course offered at Toronto College of Dental Hygiene and Auxiliaries Inc. is a HARP-approved Certification course which will also be reflected on the graduates transcript!

Graduates who pass this course will have met the requirements set out by the HARP Act and will be qualified to operate an X-ray machine in the province of Ontario.

The course is designed for individuals that already work in a dental office such as a dental office administrator, dental office manager, dental receptionist, nurse and/or have a dental background such as an internationally trained dental professional.
