Applicants
Educated in CanadaApplicants educated in Ontario must
have completed a high school diploma equivalent to the following mandatory admission
requirements. Applicants from other provinces in Canada other than
Ontario must have all the same requirements or equivalent in their
respective provinces .
- Ontario Secondary Diploma - OSSD 30 Credits (General level and/or
Advanced
- Grade 12 Equivalency - GED Certificate
- Mature Student
- Grade 12 English - Level 4 with minimum of 60% at Advanced level
or 70% at General level
- Grade 11 Biology - Level 3 with minimum of 60% at Advance level or
70% at General level
- Grade 11 or 12 Chemistry and/or Physics - with minimum of 60% at
Advance level or 70% at General level
- Grade 11 Mathematics - Level 3 with minimum of 60% at Advance
level or 70% at General level
- Cooperative Courses in these disciplines are not considered as
having met the academic requirements.
Mature Students -
include applicants who are 19 years of age or over by the first day of
classes and who lack the academic admission requirements may be
considered on an individual basis. Individuals applying as a mature
student and do not have a Secondary School Diploma must supply if needed
proof of age such as an official birth certificate or drivers licence.
The Mandatory pre-admission test applies to all applicants applying
as a mature student.
The College of Dental Hygienist and
Auxiliaries Inc. may choose to have all applicants applying as a mature
student to take additional test prior to the mandatory pre-admission
test.
Applicants Educated Outside of Canada
Applicants who have graduated from high school
and/or a post-secondary institution in a foreign country
are required to have their diplomas evaluated on a course-by-course
basis by the World Education
Services to determine if their foreign education is
equivalent to an OSSD and courses taken are equivalent to the above
requirements .
All applicable fees associated with the World Education Services are
the responsibility of the applicant.
Applicants must arrange to have copies of the evaluation forwarded to
Toronto College of Dental Hygiene and Auxiliaries inc .directly from
World Education Services by the required deadlines.
English Proficiency -
English is the language in which the dental hygiene program is taught at
the Toronto College of Dental Hygiene and Auxiliaries Inc.
It is imperative that the student has a strong grasp of the English
language, both verbal and written in order to complete the dental
hygiene program.
The National Dental Hygiene Certification
Examination is offered in both official languages; English and French. A
graduate must sit the examination and pass in order to obtain the
National Dental Hygiene Board Certificate as a requirement to practice
as a Dental Hygienist in Ontario.
If the World Education Services course-by-course evaluation determines
that no course has been taken which is comparable to the required OSSD
Grade 12 English course or equivalent, then the applicant must complete
a Grade 12 English course prior to their application.
Any other English proficiency standardized tests (e.g. TOEFL) will
not be accepted as a substitute for successful completion of a Grade 12
English course. |
